| Our Classes & General Enrollment Guidelines |
All students are placed in classes according to their individual ability and teacher’s recommendations.
Classes are filled by matching the student’s age and ability to the class level.
Preschool
Combination Classes |
A 45-minute class for 3 and 4 year olds featuring weekly instruction in basic ballet and tap. Weekday and weekend times are now available. |

Primary & Elementary
Combination Classes |
We offer a 45-minute class a week grouped in 5-7 year olds and 8-10 year olds. Children in these classes will be instructed in basic ballet, jazz and tap. |

| Irish Classes |
We offer 45-minute recreational Irish classes ages 8 and up and a hard shoe class for some of our older and advanced Irish dancers. |

| Ballet Classes |
Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance and is recommended for all students ages 8 and up. Ballet gives the dancers a strong technical basis for the other styles of dance. Ballet is mandatory for all competitive dancers and for any dancers who have a solo, duo or trio. |

| Hip Hop Classes |
A fun, recreational style of dance with crisp, funky steps based on this current, popular style. These are 60-minute classes offered for recreational and competitive levels.

| Lyrical Classes |
A very fluid and expressive style of dance with a strong basis of ballet. These classes are offered in 45-minute classes for beginning lyrical dancers to 60-minute classes for more advanced students. |

| Musical Theatre |
A theatrical style of dance, sometimes involving singing and acting to develop the story and characters of the piece. This is a recreational style of dance offered in 30-minutes classes. |

| Jazz Classes |
This upbeat style of dance with sharp, synchronized movement, is offered to all levels of dancers. |
| |
|
| Tap Classes |
A classic type of dance with many rhythms and syncopated sounds, instructed in 45-minute classes for recreational and competitive groups. |

| Adult Classes |
We offer 45-minute stretch, tap and jazz adult classes. |

| Arco & Hip Hop |
Ages 6 & up |
Registration/Enrollment
A registration fee of $25 is required upon enrolling in any class. This fee is separate from tuition and is non-refundable. Registration for the season (September-June) is held mid-August every summer.

Costumes
Costumes will be required for all students participating in our annual recital performance or competition. Students will be sized in November and costumes will be ordered soon after. A costume deposit of $30 per class will be required in November, prior to costume orders being placed. If the deposit is not paid, we will not be able to order a costume for the dancer. This deposit will be applied to the total cost of the costume and the remainder of the costume price will be due by January 31st.
You are fully responsible for the payment of the costume once it has been ordered.
Dancewear
All dancers must were appropriate dance clothes and shoes to class. Anyone not wearing proper dance attire will be asked to sit out of class. Ballet dancers must wear a black leotard, pink or tan tights and ballet shoes. We ask that lyrical dancers also wear a leotard and tights, and foot undeez. Irish dancers must wear black ghillies and hip hoppers must wear black dance sneakers. If not specified above, all other dancers are to wear form fitting clothes – tank tops, dance pants or capris – we will not allow baggie gym clothes or street clothes to be worn on the dance floor. All dancers must have their hair pulled back away from their face.
Summer Classes
We offer one hour Preschool and Kinder dance classes during our summer program. Our 2010 summer program will be held on Tuesdays from July 27th thru August 10th. This 3-week program is $30.
We will also be holding 2 summer dance intensives for dancers ages 10 and up. This summer’s intensives will be July 12th- 16th and August 9th- 13th. These are 2 separate camps, each offering a variety of classes by guest teachers. Classes will be from 5-8pm Monday thru Friday on the 2 weeks listed above. One 5-day intensive is $100 and each dancer will receive a t-shirt.
Tuition
Tuition for the full 2010-2011 season will be as follows:
1 one-hour group class each week is $315 for the season, which breaks into 9 equal payments of $35 per month.
Each additional group class will be discounted at $225 for the season, or $25 per month.

FROM NOW ON, THERE WILL BE NO JUNE TUITION PAYMENT!
June's tuition will now be split up amongst the 9 months of September thru May
to relieve a 10th payment in June.
Solo:
Our private lessons are invitation only based on the dancer's ability and the teacher's recommendation. Solo's are $75 a month. Private lessons are a 30-minute class once a week. Solo lesson payments must be paid per month, not per class. Payment is due for all scheduled classes, regardless of student’s attendance.
Duo/Trio:
These smaller lessons are $35 per month for a 30-minute class once a week.
We offer a discount for families with many dancers.. No family pays more than $260 per month.
Please note, your monthly tuition is per month, not per class.
This monthly fee is based on a minimum of 34 classes for the year. The school calendar allows for 35 or 36 classes depending on the day of the week (already excluding holiday and vacation days). This gives a few extra classes in case of snow days or unexpected closings. Please keep in mind we do not charge for any extra practices or rehearsals.
Payments are due before the 20th of the month. Payments received after the 20th will incur a late fee of $10.
Alternate payment arrangements may be available. Please call the studio to discuss our options.
Students do have the option of dropping any class at any time, however, all tuition that has been paid is non-refundable. Please notify Step Up & Dance if your child will no longer be participating in any class.
